Who We Are

The Uganda Women’s Health Initiative is made up of five collaborating organisations – University College London (UCL), University College London Hospital (UCLH), Makerere University in Kampala, Mulago Hospital in Uganda, and Hospice Africa in Uganda.

The Initiative consists of a small team of long-term staff based in Uganda – a Medical Director (Dr Daniel Murokora), a Programme Manager and four nurse-midwives.

We’re governed by a board which has both UK and Ugandan representatives and both a UK Co-Chair (Professor Ian Jacobs) and a Ugandan Co-Chair (Dr Lawrence Kaggwa).

Our work is made possible thanks to the ongoing support and financial contributions from a range of supporters, including broadcaster Jon Snow and Mrs Janet K Museveni, First Lady of Uganda and Honourable Minister for Karamoja Affairs, and Patron of UWHI.
